Day 10: My body's reminders to slow down. It was a bit of a headachey weekend that pumped the brakes big time on about 4 different plans, which was really disappointing at first (and didn't feel so great in the ol' noggin). But I'm grateful for my body's reminder to slow the heck down; to make space for myself to rest and lay low. I'm also grateful for the reminder of how fragile this little internal eco-system of mine is. I need to take care of my body every single day if I wanna be around to use it for years to come. It does so much for me and I'd like to get better about showing my affection in return. Day 11: Coffee or Tea in pretty mugs. I'm hiding my unmake-uped early morning face (and shorter hair cut, courtesy of the awesomely talented Antonio!) behind my newest mug from Anthropologie. I loved the color combo of the "P" mug way better than the "T"--thank goodness I'm actually a Patricia :) There's just something so great about having your first cup of coffee or tea from a mug that is sunny and easy on the eyes....(unlike my aforementioned unmake-uped face). Day 12: Flexible work schedules.
If our favorite cupcake joint, Susie Cakes, that happens to be across the street from me doesn't open until 10am and we've got an employee birthday to celebrate, I don't have to sweat it. This is a task based kinda company that asks first and foremost: Hey, just get your sh*t done. It's so great to be able to hop online, do some email, prep for the day and then non stressfully head out to pick up treats for the team. I whole heartedly believe in encouraging your work family to be invested in both the projects they are working on for you as a company as well as the projects outside the office...you know...mostly the project called life? I've found folks will be more likely to yield the bad ass kinda results you're looking for when they feel they are supported and appreciated for the other titles they carry; mom, dad, sister, friend, partner, volunteer, book nerd, wine enthusiast, yoga junky, etc etc. It can be a hard balance to strike, but authentic communication and every day kindness will ease any hiccups and make it all that much worth while. Time for me to go pick up some sweets :) In Gratitude, Trish
