The Grateful Life has teamed up with our favorite store, Heritage Row, for a sweet little holiday giveaway! Jenny has been kind enough to donate this perfect, goes with everything, clutch for one lucky reader (optional strap inside)....

And since I received SO MANY compliments on it at my company party last Friday (seriously, even with my best dance moves, this guy outshone me all night), I've decided to add the sparkly and festive statement necklace (also from Heritage Row) to the contest winnings!

I am grateful for my husband, who I seem love more and more each year we are married (2 to date)! I am also grateful for the trip of a life time he planned, almost 3 weeks traveling all through the national parks!

This post took me so long because I couldn't figure out what I was MOST grateful for because there are so many things, therefore, this year I am most grateful for the abundance of joy I have in my life. I am blessed to be surrounded by a loving family, boyfriend and some of the best friends a girl could have. (not to mention the CUTEST & sweetest 2 yr-old nephew ever, who told me he loved me for the first time the other day *heart melting*) I have a good job, a nice apartment and I'm able to pay my bills AND have a little extra money to travel. I too often get stressed over the little things & am critical of those I love, but I couldn't imagine a life without the people that make my life so rich.

I am so deeply grateful for my support system that is my family and friends. It has been one rough year but I am continually humbled by their constant out pour of love and comfort. They teach me daily to constantly count my blessing and to never underestimate the power of ones self. I am surrounded by love and it never ceases to amaze me how unconditional it all is. This year I vow to show them all how much they are appreciated. Happy holidays and cheers to a new and wonderful year!

I am grateful for my sisters (blood and besties) who make the complications of life a little easier and give me lots to laugh about, always!

I am so grateful for all of the possibilities that life allows; for the opportunity to live where I want, and how I want, filling my life with beautiful people and the things that fuel my fire. Simply, grateful for life!

I'd have to say I'm most grateful for my students. They are what I look forward to each and every day. My 7th and 8th graders never cease to amaze me with the ways they view the world and they continually remind me to remain a kid at heart. I feel very fortunate to be able to work with today's youth and play a small part in what they grow up to be. So a big thank you to my kiddos...I am so grateful to be your teacher.

I saw a meme floating around the internet awhile ago, with a little African boy, with a skeptical look on his face and it said "You're telling me you have so much clean water that you s**t in it."
That really hit me. Yes- I am grateful for my health, my family, and the wonderful beautiful life that I have built, but I am oh so grateful to be able to do my business in private, in a clean environment. I am grateful that I have running, clean, fresh water available to me whenever I want it, for whatever I want.

Each & every entry listed prior to mine has it's own special meaning to the author, but I know we all can relate to what they wrote as well. Our health, our families, even fresh water for the bathroom (something we take way too much for granted)...kinda funny, but true. After Friday's terrible tragedy I think about my own daughter as a teacher. So senseless, so sad.

I think Trish is gonna have a difficult time choosing a winner from all of the wonderful posts.

What I think I am most grateful for this Christmas is a little different than I'd normally say thanks to 'Sandy'.

Owning a home at the Jersey shore has now become an acronym for 'Sandy'. I am ever so grateful my home & most of my town escaped damage. Sadly, every town to our north & south were not as lucky. People are probably tired of hearing about it, but what I'd like to explain is probably not what you always see or hear.

It's the people...how amazing the people are that were caught in Sandy's mess. The past several weeks I have been able to work with a group from a church in Manasquan (one tiny town currently having approximately 79 homes demolished) who has been helping so many in need, even though their own loss was extensive. Emails to local towns (mine included) were sent to people looking for assistance. So many things were set-up, here is what I witnessed when I began volunteering:

*'Laundry with a Smile" for those living in B&Bs who need huge piles of laundry washed
*Free (homemade) dinners each night in the church, sometimes serving 300 people per nite
*Homemade soup & sandwiches being brought curbside on weekends to volunteers & home owners working hard to rebuild
*Volunteers shoveling out sand from homeowners garages (no kidding sand was up to the ceilings, can't imagine how heavy that was)
*High school students gathering items to create Christmas baskets for the displaced
*Watching an elderly retired Dentist scrubbing pots after one of the free dinners one night (secretly wishing I could adopt him)
*A 'shopping nite' prepared for folks to come to the church & get new slippers, etc. that were lost in the storm
*A woman who (when asked if she'd like soup & a sandwich) said 'no thank you, all I need is a hug' (yup, we all shed a tear)
*Listening to other volunteers say how when they first started with the free meals many weeks ago how 'broken' the people appeared, how the healing process is now bringing back smiles

Yes, I am grateful my home is dry & standing without damage, but I am especially grateful to have witnessed the strength & love of the people at the Jersey shore. 'Jersey Strong' is an expression people are using these days...it speaks volumes.

BTW, since I am related to the lovely author of the 'Grateful Life' blog I officially remove myself from competing for the purse...just wanted to share.
Happy Holidays!

This time of year, I often have to pay special attention to the things that I am most grateful for. This effort is essential to avoid being bogged down with the things that threaten to take away what is most precious about the holiday season (emphasis on gifts, cards, tasks).

Fortunately for me this Christmas, I need not look far or think hard about what I am most grateful for, they start my day with me bright and early every morning. They point out how pretty the Christmas tree is, they giggle with delight at the new location of the Elf on the Shelf, they wave goodbye to me and give me kisses as I leave for work. They smile for photos I receive throughout the day and add an exuberance to the world around them, a world that might not take the time to enjoy simple pleasures that they refuse to miss. They greet me at the door when I get home and throw their arms around me and say how much they missed me.

At one point in my life, I wasn't sure that I would be able to have children. So there isn't a way to possibly express how lucky and gratefuI I am to be a mother to 2 of the most loving kids a woman could ask for.

And for that... I am humbly grateful.

Reflecting on 2012, I am most thankful for my husband as his hard work has afford us the opportunity to move to Canada for a new life adventure! I am fortunately able to take some time off work to get us settled and focus on my next career path. Due to his hard work, we have still been able to fly back to the US several times this fall for weddings and holidays with friends and family, and I am so grateful for that!

I'm grateful for all of the opportunities I've had since moving to San Francisco, and all of the lessons - both positive and negative - I've learned in that time! Oh, and wonderful friends like you :)
